What does it take to be truly innovative? Over 500 entrepreneurs, investors, corporate innovators, researchers from the academe and major innovation hubs, government officials, and media members will be convening in the inaugural Deep Tech Summit on 18 September 2018.
The summit, to be held at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, will discuss how deep tech can solve global problems across industries and transform the way businesses and consumers operate—all in pursuit of true innovation.
The Deep Tech Summit will be a full-day conference that will cover topics such as artificial intelligence across industries, blockchain beyond fintech, medtech innovation, technology and society, future of work and talent development, and venture building and deep tech investments. The event, presented by Singapore-based deep tech investor and ecosystem builder SGInnovate, is part of the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology (SWITCH 2018), a concept week that brings together tech innovators from around the world.
SGInnovate Founding CEO Steve Leonard says, “Through sustained investment and commitment spanning several decades, Singapore has earned a reputation for having world-class universities and scientific research. SGInnovate was formed in 2016 to work with scientists based in Singapore, who believe their research work could be the basis of a deep tech startup with regional and global potential.”
Citing how Singapore is a perfect host for the event, Leonard says, “Through hands-on work with hundreds of scientists, engineers, and investors, SGInnovate has gained a unique perspective of the challenges and opportunities for scientist-entrepreneurs who want to build a deep tech startup from Singapore.”
SGInnovate will also be presenting a blockchain and industry introduction workshop on 17 September 2018 and an Investors Night on 18 September, in conjunction with the summit.
“Hosting and organising the inaugural Deep Tech Summit is a very exciting time for us,” says Leonard. “It will be a rare opportunity to see global tech leaders and scientists come together in Singapore, to exchange ideas on topics such as venture building, deep tech talent, and the realities of technologies in society.”
